Do you live in the 61605 ZIP code? We want to hear from you! Join the SDOH – Accelerator Plan leadership team on Wednesday, May 24 at the George Washington Carver Center to tell us about your experiences regarding transportation and accessibility in your neighborhood. Light refreshments will be served.
The Peoria City/County Health Department has received a grant to gather resident input and present a plan to government and community stakeholders on key projects that could be quickly done, or accelerated, within the 61605 ZIP code to improve quality of life. Hence, we're creating an Accelerator Plan.
Discussion might revolve around sidewalks, green space, or bus stops, just to name a few. We are interested in what the community has to say about the way they get around, or want to get around, their neighborhood.
The Health Department is developing this plan with a Social Determinants of Health lens. In other words, a person’s health is determined by a variety of factors from the environment people are born into and live in. These are economic stability, education access and quality, health care access and quality, neighborhood and built environment, and social and community context. Our Accelerator Plan research is aimed at the built environment portion, specifically social connectedness of the community and their transportation uses.
